Our executive team along with a select number of young Muslims had the opportunity to meet Rebiya Kadeer for lunch. Rebiya Kadeer is an inspiration for Muslims worldwide. She is an activist for the human rights of the Uyghur minority living in China. Despite witnessing the systematic oppression of the Uyghurs and enduring a prison sentence herself, Kadeer continues to fight for the political and social rights of her people. She is the current president of the World Uyghur Congress. Kadeer was invited to speak about the oppression of the Uyghurs by the Greens Party to the general public in Auckland. What a woman! We were inspired by her stories of courage and resilience.
